The solubilization behavior of 7-ethoxycoumarin (7EC) and 7-ethoxy-4-methylcoumarin (7E4MC) in aqueous micellar solutions of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (HDTC) was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy. The equilibrium constants for the binding of the fluorophores into micelles and their fluorescence yields in the micellar phase were determined.
