51V NMR spectra of alkali and ammonium metavanadates have been measured with and without magic angle spinning (MAS) of the sample at a high static magnetic field (9.40T). The isotropic chemical shifts have been determined accurately from the MAS spectra, while the principal values of the shift tensor have been estimated from the static spectra. Correlations between the NMR parameters and structural factors have been briefly discussed.
