Radiation-induced addition reaction of alcohols to hexafluoro-2-butyne provided (<I>E</I>)- and (<I>Z</I>)-2,3-bis(trifluoromethyl)allyl alcohols, which were dehydrated to afford 1,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-butadienes. Thermal cyclization of 3-methyl-1,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-butadiene afforded 1-methyl-2,3-bis(trifluoromethyl)clobutene.
