• The reaction of tropolones with <I>p</I>-benzoquinonedibenzenesulfonimide was carried out and the following points were observed.<BR>1) The 2′, 5′-dibenzenesulfonamidophenyl group enters the 5-position of the tropolone ring, similar to the case of phenol.<BR>2) The reaction proceeds in the same way in the case of 4-isopropyltropolone, without interference of the isopropyl group.<BR>3) In the case of tropolones with a substituent in 5-position, reduction of <I>p</I>-benzoquinone-dibenzenesulfonimide takes place.
