• 201Tl was used as an imaging agent in 56 cases of thyroid tumor to determine whether or not 201Tl-scintigrams can precisely distinguish thyroid cancer from benign lesions.Early and delayed 201Tl scannings were performed on patients with thyroid tumors. Such tumors were free from uptake of 123I or 99mTc. In early scanning 21 of 38 cases showing positive 201Tl scannings were benign and even in delayed scanning 10 of 22 cases were benign. It is concluded that 201Tl has no affinity for thyroid cancer.
