The Treatment of Old Cases of Monteggia's Fracture-Dislocation

Recently we have treated old cases of Monteggia's fracture-dislocation with new operative technique and reviewed them.The methods of the operation is as follows;1. Extirpation of cicatorized annular ligament and scar tissue around the luxated radial head to make the reduction of radius easy.2. Osteotomy of ulna at the point of three to five centimeters to the proximal end of ulna.3. Fixation of the osteotomized ulna with a plate or medullary nailing having a postero-medial convex in order to make the reduction of radial head by the strong tension of interosseous menbrane.4. Postoperative immobilization of the forearm being supinated and flexed with plaster cast.This operation does not need the reconstruction of annular ligament.We are satisfied with results obtained.
