Fifty low-birthweight children who had weighed between 620 grams and 1500 grams at birth were examined on their psycho-motor developement.37 of these children were normal and 7 had slight abnormalities such as adiadochokinesia, motor retardation or poor balance reactions. Six were diagnosed cerebral palsy (5 diplegias and 1 hemiplegia). In abnormal groups, there were 10 boys and 3 girls.Prechtl scores were high with the average of 5.59. No significant difference was found in the score between normal and abnormal children, but neonatal asphyxias or other postnatal complications were more frequently occurred in abnormal children.
