Spontaneous hematomyelia, a very rare condition, was encountered in one case who had hemorrhage into the cervical spinal cord. The patient was a fifty-four-year-old woman. The first sign was sudden and severe neck pain. Progression was rapid, spinal paralysis and diaphragmatic paralysis occurred two hours after the appearance of neck pain. An intramedullary tumor was suspected after examination of myelograms, etc. A cervical laminectomy, from C2 to C6, was performed. The cervical cord was enlarged and there was an intramedullary hematoma. The postoperative course was poor. and Paralysis did not improve.
