Forty osteoarthritic knees in thirty-three patients who underwent high tibial osteotomy were followed for an average period of four years and five months, and evaluated through clinical and radiographic examination.Clinical results were good or excellent in many cases in which lateral laxity was decreased at follow-up study. The passage of time was not the determinant of clinical results, though postoperative change of femorotibialangle (FTA) was the important factor in determining the longterm results. In this study, the cases which obtained FTA between 167 and 170 degrees postoperatively showed stable long-term clinical results.
