We measured the MCV of the forearm and that of the postcondylar groove in the elbow separately. We noticed that the numerical value of the MCV of the post-condylar groove in the elbow is generally lower than that of the forearm. It is necessary to examine both the normal value of the MCV of postcondylar groove in the elbow (the cubital tunnel) and the value which indicates an operation is required.The MCV of the post-condylar groove in the elbow of 60 healthy subjects and 120 subjects with complaints was measured as well as MCV of the forearm and the distal latency, by stimulating the wrist, the elbow and the upper arm respectively.In the case of the healthy subjects, the average value for the post-condylar groove in the elbow was 50.4m/sec whereas the average value for the forearm was 61.3m/sec, which obviously means that the value of the former was lower than the latter. Besides, the value for the post-condylar groove in the elbow wasn't lower than 40m/sec except for one case, and even that value became higher on re-examination. Consequently, we concluded that values lower than 40m/sec are abnormal. Futhermore, in the cases lower than 30m/sec we recognized muscle atrophy and disturbance of motion, excluding the cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome, for which we considered operations were necessary, and performed them.
