On the winding and twisting mechanism of a roving frame which uses cone pulleys and bobbin lead system, the following conclusions were obtained.<BR>1. Edge of the bobbin layers has a constant taper.<BR>tanθ=2πrsinφ/nWo <BR>where θ : taper, r : radius of rack wheel, Wo : thickness of rove.<BR>n : tooth uumbers of ratchet wheel, φ : angle of anchor bar when bobbin rail turns back.<BR>2. Ratio of top and bottom cone diameters, Md, does not vary inversely as bobbin diameter, d.<BR>Md = k<SUB>4</SUB>/d +, k<SUB>5</SUB> constant<BR>But, as value k<SUB>5</SUB> is small, Md approximately varies in inverse proportion to d.<BR>3. The relation between coil pitch of rove, P, and d is as follows.<BR>P=k<SUB>4</SUB>+k<SUB>5</SUB>d/k<SUB>4</SUB>+k<SUB>5</SUB>D W<BR>where D : bore bobbin diameter. W : width of the first layer rove on the bobbin.<BR>4. Bobbin draft, Dr, is very small, and it reduces as d decreases and aslncorrect revolving angle of swing motion δy, , reduces.<BR>Dr=√1+δy/πn<SUB>d</SUB>+(P/πd)<SUP>2</SUP><BR>nd : coil numbers per unit time when it is woand on d.<BR>5. Pressure against a bobbin on winding decreases as d increases.<BR>6. Twisting number is constant except the start and the stop of the frame.
