A study on tire cord fatigue has been done using Goodrich compression fatigue tester in which the tire cords sealed into rubber are tested. The object of the study is to know why different relationships are obtained between fatigue limit and yarn twist as the results of various types of test.<BR>The results obtained are : <BR>1) Fatigue limit is independent of concentration of dipping solution in the range practically used.<BR>2) Fatigue limit increases remarkably with an increase in yarn twist.<BR>3) It is possible that the shrinkage in dipping treatment affects the magnitude of yarn twist, and, in turn, the fatigue limit.<BR>4) The relation between yarn twist and fatigue limit will be clearly explained, if we know the amount and the type of stress and deformation of the fibers of which the tire cord is constructed.
