As there were many unsolved problems in the practical use of the method previously reported, efforts have been made to find a more complete method . These efforts have given birth to the following contrivance :<BR>Light is cast from a lamp situated right over the head of a flyer, which has both a silicon photo cell fitted to its leg, and a shutter plate fitted to the presser-weight on the cell . Variations in the photo electric current during the revolutions of the flyer are recorded by a micro recorder.<BR>By sample measurements it has been confirmed that this method is helpful in knowing the package diameter of a sliver bobbin during winding in order to analyse the characters of sliver bobbins.
