A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the nutritional value of three types of wheat flour, straight flour, first grade clear flour and second grade clear flour, in grass prawn, Penaeus monodon, feed. Of the three flours, second grade clear flour was either supplemented with potassium bromate or without. Corn starch with a commercial binder, carboxymethylcellulose, was included in the study as comparison. Results showed that shrimp fed diets containing either straight flour, first grade clear flour or second grade clear flour had identical body weight gain, protein digestibility, dry matter digestibility and carbohydrate digestibility. All diets performed similar water stability regardless of which type of flour was incorporated. These data suggest that all three types of wheat flour have the same nutritional value in P. monodon feed.
