For researching the cross resistance and its degree among five antibiotics including KM, VM, CPM, and new antibiotics of LVM and TUM, the sensitivities to the five antibiotics were examined with strains isolated from patients in the 1% Ogawa's medium (O medium), the Kirchner semi-liquid agar medium (K medium), the Youmans semi-liquid agar medium (Y medium) and the Dubos medium (D medium). The results are as follows. 1) The sensitivity of human tubercle bacilli isolated from patie n ts to the five antibiotics was examined in the O medium and the K medium; The antibacterial activities of VM and TUM were strongly observed in the O medium, and the antibacterial activities of KM and LVM were strongly observed in the K medium. In the latter medium, it was noted that the antibacterial activity of VM was the weakest. 2) MIC of the five antibiotics to the H37Rv strain and the Schacht strain in the media of K, Y and D was in the order of VM>TUM=CPM>LVM=KM. 3) According to the experiments on the sensitivities to the five antibiotics by the kinds of media, the antibiotics may be grouped into two classes, that is, the group of KM and LVM and the group of VM and TUM; and CPM seems to be positioned between the groups.
