Tungsten correction factors, obtained in the author's previous paper to correct Cr intensities for inter-element effect in W-containing low alloy steel, were applied to the same determination of Cr under different measuring conditions.<BR>A family of Cr calibration lines with varying W% was recognized, firstly and for the first time, not to be parallel each other, but to have a common intersection with Cr% axis, as a group of calibration lines having linear sensitivity changes.<BR>Applicability of the definite W correction factors to different calibration curves can be estimated, prior to their actual application, by using a nomographic expression of calibration curve and its sensibility. The changes of tube voltage, tube amperage, conditions of pulse height analyzer, and sample holder, did not affect the common uses of W correction factors of the previous paper, while the change of goniometer position showed a remarkable effect.<BR>These W correction factors for CrKα line were also found to be applicable to the determination of Mn in the same W-containing low alloy steel, in connection with the other correctional method of Mn determination for overlapping CrKβ line. The latter method on W-free low alloy steel has been established and reported by the author, already in this journal. In this paper, an appropriate equation including W correction factors was introduced, semi-experimentally, to the determination of Mn in W-containing low alloy steel, by using overlapping Mn Kα intensities and Mn calibration curve for W-free low alloy steel.
