Neurogenic Malignant Neoplasm of the Neck:Report of 3 Cases

Two cases of malignant schwannoma and a case of ganglioneuroblastoma of the neck treated in Kurume University Hospital from 1971 to 1980 were reported. Of the 2 cases of malignant schwannoma, one was a 30-year-old male who died 7 years and 6 months after the initial treatment with primary lesion and pulmonary metastasis. Another was a 49-year-old female who experienced repeated local recurrence. One year and 6 months after her hospital discharge, the patient is recently alive with the primary tumor remaining. The case of ganglioneuroblastoma was a 3-year-old girl who was treated with irradiation and chemotherapy. Four years and 6 months after the initial treatment the patient is alive without any evidence of recurrent tumor.
