Relationship between electron microscopical structures, which were found in the hepatocytes of patients with HB antigenemia, and findings obtained immunofluorescent method was carefully compared with the purpose to clarify the nature of those structures.<BR>The nuclei of the hepatocytes, containing numerous virus-like particles, showed positive immunofluorescence by antiserum against core of Dane particle. Filamentous structures in the cisternae of endoplasmic reticulums and hyaloplasm corresponded to orcein and aldehydefuchsin positive substances which were observed in a light microscope.<BR>Accordingly, it may be concluded that virus-like particles in the nucleus of hepatocytes correspond to cores of Dane particles and filamentous structure in the cytoplasm correlates with coat protein.
