In this paper is proposed a new method of calculation of the effects of multiple control rods. The reactor is divided into two parts - the uniform fuel region and the control rods. The sinks for both thermal and epithermal fluxes of the control rods are taken into account. This method overcomes such disadvantages of the conventional methods as limitations on the number, the properties, and on the locations of the inserted control rods, as well as the considerable calculating time required. The validity of the theory proposed in this paper was ascertained by comparisons with experiments in a natural U fueled, water moderated subcritical facility and with results obtained with the conventional method.
