It was demonstrated that plasma 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin; 5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) concentrations altered in parallel with blood pressure changes in Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY). Stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP) showed less change in plasma 5-HT than WKY.
