• A vacuum drying method was tested whether it was more effective for drying of superior green tea or withering of tea leaves.<BR>It was observed that vacuum drying was effective on the drying rate of rolled leaves, but very little effective on that of not rolled leaves (steamed leaves) as shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4.<BR>The effect of shelf temperature upom the drying rate was powerful as shown in Fig. 5.<BR>The qualities of tea did not significantly differed between the vacuum drying and the ordinary drying.
