Determination of the Optimal Tempo for SWDM for Gait EMG Amplitude Normalization

This study aimed at determining the optimal tempo of repetitions in SWDM (segment weight dynamic movement) reference exercises performed for obtaining the reference amplitudes needed to normalize gait EMGs. Eleven healthy males (age 19-23 years; height 168-183 cm; weight 59-72 kg) participated in this study with informed consent. Subjects performed 15 dynamic repetitions of right ankle plantar flexiondorsiflexion, and knee extensionflexion at different tempos, including self-selected, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 repmin. The muscles tested were gastrocnemius, soleus, rectus femoris and vastus medialis of the right leg. EMGs were processed into linear envelopes to obtain peak amplitudes and coefficients of variation (CVs). No significant peak amplitude variations were observed through different tempos; the peak amplitude CVs were relatively small for 20 to 40 repmin. The average self-selected tempo was 35.1±9.7 repmin for ankle plantar flexiondorsiflexion and 35.0±8.7 repmin for knee extensionflexion. These results indicate that the optimal tempo at which to perform SWDM reference exercises for obtaining reference amplitudes is 30 repmin.本研究は，歩行筋電図を標準化する際に必要な振幅の基準値を得る動作方法を検討した。承諾が得られた健康な男性11名（年齢19～23才、身長168～183cm、体重59～72kg）を被験者とした。腓腹筋，ヒラメ筋，大腿直筋と内側広筋のいずれも右脚側を被験筋とした。自体重を負荷とする右足関節底背屈と，端座位で足と下肢の重量を負荷とする右膝関節伸展屈曲を動的に15回連続することを課題とした。動作テンポは各被験者の自由，メトロノーム音に合わせて毎分10回，20回，30回，40回，50回，60回に規定した。その際得られた筋電図は包絡線として処理し，足関節底屈と膝関節伸展期の振幅ピーク値とその変動係数（CV値）を算出した。　その結果，４筋ともテンポの増加に伴う有意な振幅ピーク値の差違は認められなかった。一方，各テンポにおける振幅ピーク値のCV値はいずれも25以下の値を示したが，４筋を総合するとテンポ20～40回分におけるCV値が比較的低値を示した。一方、自由による平均テンポは足関節底背屈35.1±9.7回，膝関節伸展屈曲35.0±8.7回であった。これらのことから，有意な結果には至らないが，基準動作のテンポを30回毎分に設定することが比較的安定的で再現性の高い振幅基準値が得られると考えられた。
