The purpose of this study was identify an appropriate setting to increase the clearness of a motor sense of foot for caving turn using Experience Sampling Method (ESM). The subjects were nine intermediate skiers who enrolled in five-day ski class. They were divided into four lesson groups in consideration of skill level. Instructors were college students who holed a first technical grade of Ski Association of Japan. The class included group lesson, pole lesson and free skiing at various courses in Shigakogen ski area. The scale to measure the clearness of foot sense was developed based on skiing terminology identified by Kaneko (2000) and administered during skiing using ESM. Firstly, the result classified the 216 answers by the days indicated that subjects felt significant higher foot sense on the third day in comparison with the first day. Secondly, the answers were categorized them by type of lesson method such as group lesson, pole lesson, and free skiing. There was a significant higher foot sense during free skiing on third day. Thirdly, The result divided them by degree of slope indicated that subjects felt significant higher foot sense at middle slope (10~20 degrees) in comparison with steep slope (more than 20 degrees). This finding suggested the necessity for three days, the opportunities of free skiing at the latter of the class, and the appropriateness of middle slope to increase foot sense for caving turn.
