64x64-element and 32x32-element slot array antennas using double-layer hollow-waveguide corporate-feed in the 120 GHz band

We propose high gain antennas having a broad bandwidth characteristic for the 120 GHz band. The proposed antennas are fabricated by diffusion bonding of laminated thin copper plates which has the advantages of high precision and low loss characteristic even in a high frequency region such as 120 GHz. For the stable fabrication using diffusion bonding technique, we propose a new feeding structure which has a double layer. A 32x32-element array shows 38 dBi gain with 70% antenna efficiency over 13 GHz bandwidth and a 64x64-element array shows 44 dBi gain with 70% antenna efficiency over 13 GHz bandwidth, respectively. To author's knowledge, these antennas are the world first prototypes having high antenna gains and 10% bandwidth such as 38 dBi and 44 dBi with the planar antenna structure.
