We report here on the sonochemical coating of metal nanoparticles on plastic plate in the absence of any additional reductants (e.g., sodium borohydride), stabilizers (e.g., surfactant and polymer) and binders (e.g., alkylthiol) in aqueous media. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were deposited onto a poly(methyl metacrylate) (PMMA) plate through the sonochemical reduction of tetrachloride gold (III)([AuCl_4]^-) in an aqueous solution. We observed the color change of the PMMA plate from transparent to pink by repeating of the treatment. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed the increase of AuNPs deposited on the PMMA plate as the number of treatment. This was also confirmed by monitoring the absorbance originating from surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of AuNPs deposited on PMMA plate. The absorbance originating from SPR of AuNPs deposited on PMMA plate increased as the number of treatment. In order to evaluate the mechanism on the deposition of AuNPs onto plastic plate, we applied various plastic plates such as PVC, PET, 6, 6-Nylon, PE and ABS plate. We revealed the AuNP deposition on PVC, PET, 6, 6-Nylon, PE and ABS plate. In particular, the amount of AuNPs deposited on PMMA and 6, 6-Nylon significantly increased with increase in the number of treatment. These results suggest that the surface property of the plastic plate is attributed to the deposition of the AuNPs onto plastic plate.
