This report handles a networked haptic drum system m which two users play a drum set together m a 3D virtual space by using their respective haptic mterface devices. The system has two types of usage : Remote teachmg and joint performance. In remote teachmg, a teacher mstructs a student how to play a drum set by controllmg the student's drumsticks remotely. In joint performance, two users play the drum set together by moving their own drumsticks mdependently. By subjective assessment, we investigated the influence of network delay for the two types of usage. Assessment results show that the characteristics of human perception depend on the distance and velocity of movement of drumsticks (i.e., rhythm and tempo).
