According to Harmer (2007a), it is accepted for most fields of learning that motivation is essential to success: we have to want to do something to succeed in it. Harmer (2007b) also states that a variety of factors can create a desire to learn. In this paper, we will examine what kind of role motivation palys in ESL/EFL learning.
