• Living as humans, we need to establish relationships with others, and it is not considered extraordinary that emotions and feeling of love would be caused in such relationships. Viewed in this light, we are required to recognize that the elderly has various ways of representing their emotions, and to secure their free expression of emotions in the elder assistance. Accordingly, care staff needs to understand emotions expressed by the elderly in an institution are caused by inner working of minds of persons concerned, and to consider the fact that their feeling of love gives various influence over the mind and reactions of the staff is the result of free self-expression of the elderly. Therefore, working out the assistance regarding the feeling of love mentioned above will enable us to avoid relationships with others which are apt to be unilateral in the institutional care, and will secure free self-expression of the elderly.
