In information-related courses of national colleges of technology and universities, basic knowledge of computerarchitecture is the foundation for many subjects. This paper reports an example of an assembly language programmingclass, designed for using microcomputer educational material, which was introduced to lower grade levels of the electricinformation engineering course at a national college of technology. The course objective was to induce students tounderstand computer architecture fundamentals such as CPU composition and basic actions, primarily while exercises areperformed. Positioning of this class in computer architecture education in the course curriculum is explained. Features ofthe textbook we developed are presented along with noteworthy points for guidance. Results of questionnaires obtainedfrom past students are presented and class effects are discussed.
