This paper describes exhaust emissions characteristics of direct injection (DI) diesel vehicle. The exhaust emissions were measured by using on-board measurement system in suburb area and expressway. For the measurement of various exhaust emissions, fuel consumption and running conditions, several sensors and devices were installed into the vehicle. Especially pertaining to particulate matter (PM) measurement, micro dilution tunnel (MDLT) system was used. In order to identify the mass of soluble organic fraction (SOF) and insoluble organic fraction (ISOF), soxhlet extraction method was applied to PM measurement. At the actual running experiment, the various exhaust emissions increase with increasing of the fuel consumption at the time of the acceleration. The amount of the PM emission in the suburb course, where acceleration is performed frequently, is larger than in the expressway course. From lack of oxygen at the time of acceleration, the emission ratio of ISOF in the suburb course increases more than in the expressway course.
