Dielectric materials are importance for the direct conversion of electrical energy to mechanical energy in actuators. Natural rubber (STR 5L) and alumina composites crosslinked by dicumyl peroxide and Irganox 1076 acted as stabilizer. Dielectric electroactive elastomer actuators are soft and flexible materials, and deflection responding under electric field. The natural rubber/Alumina actuators have the degree of bending increase linearly with electrical field strength. Dielectric electro active elastomer actuator can be applied for various applications such as micromachining, actuator microflaps for aircraft wings, microscopic valves and pumps, actuators for adaptive optics and steerable catheters, artificial muscles for robotic and prosthetic devices, and adjustable structures for vibration suppression and failure avoidance.
