Performance analysis of DSTTD system with different antenna configurations when with or without channel estimation errors (無線通信システム)

Double Space Time Transmit Diversity (DSTTD) is a multiple antenna MIMO technique that has been proposed within 3GPP. It is designed mainly for a four transmit antenna and two receive antenna system, however it can be extended to more than 4x2 antenna system at both transmitter side and receiver side. Furthermore, in real system, channel estimation errors always exist to affect system performance. In this paper, we will also take into the consideration of channel estimation errors. We will increase the transmit antennas and receive antennas independently to investigate the DSTTD system performance when channel estimation errors matrix are applied or not under Rayleigh fading Multipath channel condition. When with the channel estimation error, there exist fallacious channel state information transmitted to the transmitter, some power transmitted through the bad sub channels will be wasted and decrease the overall system capacity. However, this situation can be improved by increasing the receiver antennas. Simulation result shows that when receive antenna is increased to about three times of transmit antennas numbers, the negative affect caused by the fallacious channel state information will be compensated. On the other hand, when without the channel estimation error, the channel state information can perfectly transmit to the receiver. In this case, channel capacity is greatly improved, especially in the low SNR part and large antenna systems. But, the capacity gain approaches almost zero in the high SNR part because the channel state information is not so important when signal is strong enough. The whole simulation is doing under three antenna configuration situations, when transmit antenna equals receive antenna (Mt=Mr); transmit antenna less than receive antenna (Mt<Mr), transmit antenna larger than receive antenna (Mt>Mr).
