In a conventional Kalman filter, a transformation matrix is required to convert the resulting measurement noise vector from a Polar coordinate to a Cartesian coordinate. But in doing so, an approximation error occurs during the conversion which consequently degrades the conventional Kalman filter transient response performance compared to a Linear Least Squares filter. Hence, we present that by repeatedly using prediction value as an alternative in calculating transformation matrix improves the transient response performance. This is because the approximation error slightly shrinks with each calculation. We also illustrate the transient response performance for each filter using computer simulation results.
