Effects of noise radiation from LED light bulbs on communications and broadcasting services are investigated. 7 different types of LED light bulbs which are commercially available items are chosen. First, electric field strength of noise radiated from the LED light bulb 1 m apart from a conical dipole antenna is measured from 80 MHz to 1000 MHz. We found that the LED light bulb noise spreads across a wide range between UHF and VHF bands. We also found that the strength of this noise is directly involved with the length of the cable and layout of the LED light bulb. This noise may drop the quality of digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB) and multimedia broadcasting services. Then, we investigate effects of noise radiation from LED light bulbs on DTTB and multimedia broadcasting services by measuring BER characteristic. As a result, the LED noises do not affect the BER characteristics of the DTTB and multimedia broadcasting services when C/I is larger than 30 dB. The degradation of the BER characteristic is occurred when C/I is smaller than 26 dB. Quality of DTTB and multimedia broadcasting services may deterioration depending on power of LED light bulb noise. Therefore, the quality of communications and broadcasting services may affect by LED light bulb noise when receiving antennae are installed near LED light bulbs.
