Morus bombycis callus cultures were induced from the seedlings. The callus cultures produced β-sitosterol, chalcones, 2-arylbenzofurans, stilbenes, and optically active Diels-Alder type adducts. Administration experiment of [2-^<13>C] sodium acetate to the M. bombycis callus cultures revealed that the callus cultures have the same biosynthetic route of the secondary metabolites as in M. alba callus cultures.
