Contemporary business enterprise is recognized as a social entity and has the characteristics of an institution. Trends in social ideology and management philosophy support this idea. The nature of institutionalized modern business enterprise has changed and is changing. The business enterprise of today can be understood as being socio-economic business, which is business enterprise conducted in globalized economic and social environments. In this kind of business, continuance involves the concept of the quantitative growth of business enterprise. High-dimensional business represents the future direction of the development of institutionalized business enterprise. It tries to respond to the expectations of diversified and globalized stakeholders, including future generations and the business enterprise itself. The concept of qualitative growth is emphasized in this business. Emphasis on the continuance objective in modern business suggests the applicability of the results of research on so-called "long-life business" to modern business.
