This study tries to assess the real conditions of shipyards located in Southeast Asian nations and Japan, to discuss the international domination among them and the possible strategy for technology transfer. The basic objectives are to make a real evaluation concerning technology, production, and management environment in each shipyard, and to evaluate the possible characteristics possessed by shipyards due to their nature. In order to realize this, questionnaire survey was conducted in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Japan. Moreover, comparative analysis was executed based on the questionnaire survey.
