In this paper the particulate size distribution of welding fume with acid lime-titania type electrode is measured by means of DMPS method under the control of a microcomputer. The crystal structure, composition, shape of fume particles are analyzed by ATEM, EDS methods. The phenomenon of the complex distribution with multi-peaks during welding is found for the first time. The results by zoning analysis method for the fume size distribution show that each peak of particulate groups generally follows log-normal distribution. It is of great importance to explain mechanisms of fume generation and to find effective way of fume control.
