The rising price in India in recent months has created a puzzle. The opinions of the official economists and proponents of the economic reforms have pointed out the global picture, which has no relevance for India. Rising global food price cannot affect India as India is a food importer. Rising oil prices has not affected India until June,2008 as the domestic price was held constant. This paper is trying to demonstrate that the inflation in India is the result of rising portfolio investments and short term foreign borrowings that have increased the flows of money in the economy and threaten the stability of the economy. Future Market and derivative trading also are responsible factors
