Sufis, so we call those with mysticism of Islam, were seceded from the Sunnis, the orthodox Islam, in the middle of IX th century. As to the secession it is said that they, having taken in imported ideas, especially neo-platonism, established their own theology, become defferent from the orthodox party and took leave from them. Others explain it from a political or social points of view : the Sunnis were recieved by the governing class ; on the other hand, the governed class accepted willingly the Sufism as their own religion, confronting with the governing class, thus the confrontation made it impossible for the Sufis to keep their place among the Sunnis. The both views should be admitted, but I would add to them the another cause that the Mu'tazilites had influenced upon the secession. The Mu'tazilites were rather rationalist and generally admitted the superiority of the Creature to God in the act; consequently they have contrast idea with the fatalistic orthodox party. Concerning with the idea of the Union with God, the Sufis laid stress upon the Grace of God, and at the same time the Sufis preached that one could correspond with God provided that he devoted himself in whole to God positively and seriously under being in the ascetic practice. I can find thereby this thought similar to the rationalism of the Mu'tazilites I mentioned above. In short, though the idea such as the Union with God is proper to the Sufism, in systematizing their theory, the Sufis were under influence of the Mu'tazilites. Besides, I give a outline of thought of Al-Hujuwiri, one of the Sufis in Xlth century, making use of his work tilled Kashf al-Mahjub.
