守屋謙二先生古稀記念論文集Rembrandt is called to have been a Baroque painter of the seventeenth century in Europe, but some of his "classical" features can be found in his last painting. In this article the writer emphasizes that Rembrandt was a student of Italian Renaissance paintings such as those of Leonard da Vinci and Raphael, and that in his last masterpieces "Christ at Emmaus (1648)" and "The Jewish Bride (1668)," he introduced the new way of expression of human feelings which any other Baroque painter had never dealt with.
