• The purpose of engineering education is to cultivate engineers of talent needed in industry. An accreditation system for engineering education is recently introduced by Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) and curriculums of many engineering colleges are revised to reflect demands of industry and to reinforce the relevant major education. In this paper, the present status of the Accreditation of Engineering Education of Korea and the effect of engineering accreditation of school of mechanical engineering at Pusan National University are examined. From the result, we conclude that to develop the engineering education in Korea, various efforts to make talented high-school-students come to engineering colleges as well as to provide the engineering education of high quality are required. To make the efforts produce good results, close cooperation among related industries, governmental agencies and universities is needed.
