The Period of Integrated Study has been adopted in all school since 2002. Education for international understanding has expanded to include elementary school and high school. It is said that education for international understanding had been focusing on intercultural understanding and focusing exclusively on Europe and America until 1990s. Does education for international understanding also have such a trend in school after 2000 ? This study tries to clarify how that education for international understanding is carried out in school from a case study in Saitama. Conclusions are derived from the analyses of the substances, forms and countries picked up in the class. Although it seems that the education in Japan puts stress on intercultural studying and intercultural understanding, many countries are being picked up and various contents and forms are being adopted. And international understanding, international cooperation, the protection of the environment and keeping the peace over the world are being learned in school. Therefore, the focus of intercultural understanding and the trend of regarding Europe and America as being important are not being supported.
