A millimeter wave reflection type spectrometer was developed and used to study absorption of ferromagnetic YIG (Yttrium Iron Garnet) at frequencies of up to 200 GHz. The spectrometer is based on the ABmm vector network analyzer and has microwave reflection bridge made of smooth wall circular waveguides. Bias field of 8.5 T is provided by a superconducting magnet, allowing to perform measurements at up to 240 GHz (for g=2 systems). To find an optimal spectrometer configuration, measurements were performed with a Fabry-Perot cavity as well as a shorted W-band waveguide section. Reflection spectra were recorded at frequencies from 75 GHz to 185 GHz with a 0.8 mm spherical YIG sample at the room temperature. Several novel features of the YIG spectra at millimeter wave frequencies were discovered and are discussed with respect to the known YIG properties at lower frequencies.
