In this paper, we focus on ultrasound image speckle removing and develop a gradient directional partial differential equation (PDE). We can denote the PDE filter as Laplacian Pyramid Gradient Directional Diffusion (LPGDD) speckle filter. The approach uses laplacian pyramid to separate the image into multiscales. And it turns out that the filter is independent of the laplacian-scale level, the filter behaves same among all the scale levels. The conventional anisotropic diffusion is implemented in four directions carried out by same weights. This paper first estimates the edges in each laplacian layer, according to the gradient directions, it adaptively select the weights for diffusion.
