The conventional PET system has a symmetric configuration, however, for applying small animals it is important to increase gamma-ray detection sensitivity and we have to develop a new PET detector configuration which has asymmetric arrangement of detectors. But in that PET system, the irregularity of the detector sensitivities become large and using the MLEM method, the artifacts and the spatial dependent noise will occur in the PET images. On this report, we show a method to suppress the artifacts by controlling the difference of the convergence speed referred to the log-likelihood and a possibility of improving PET image quality in the computer simulations.
