This paper aims to clarify how subjects and scopes of corporate social responsibility (CSR) are changing in recent years. Under the influence of globalization, it must be noted that CSR is no longer left to discretions among companies but they are obliged to carry out the CSR at both higher dimension and broader perspectives. As multinationals enlarge business development abroad, such problems as abolishing of sweat shops, economic community development, provision of equal employment opportunities and medical care are adding to the list of CSR, in addition to such problems as : environment and energy, human rights, military affairs and weapons, etc. In this regard, it is no longer possible for Japanese corporations to ignore the global orientations. They should respond to various CSR needs faced by the international community positively. For that purpose, Japanese companies should actively join international organizations such as ISO to set fair global standards of CSR.
