The self-diffusion rates of sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium tetradecyl sulfate, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid in nylon containing various amount of solute and their temperature dependence were measured by the surface radioactivity decrease method using S^<35> and Cl^<36>. The calculating method of diffusion coefficient by this method and the compatibility of the values were described about this system. From the experimental results, it has become clear that the diffusion coefficients of these substances in nylon were much smaller than those in their aqueous solutions and the presence of water in solid body is necessary for the diffusion to take place appreciably. The diffusion rates of alkyl sulfate ions depended little on the concentration in nylon, while those of inorganic ions varied largely by their concentration. This will be due to a difference of the mechanism of diffusion and sorption between them. From the activation energy for diffusion it is considered that in these systems the diffusion is resemble to the lattice diffusion such as that in crystal.
