We compared clinical features of elderly patients (80 years old or older) with colorectal cancer between those who admitted in this hospital from 1991 to 1996 and those from 2000 to 2003. Resectability of the colorectal cancer of the patients of the later period (97%) exceeded that of former period (80%). Seven patients underwent operation as an emergency operation in the former period but none had emergency operation in the latter period. Although there were no differences found in preoperative complications, lower frequency of surgical site infection and decreased epithode of delirium made the average period of admission shorter in the later period (from 49.8 days to 37.8 days).
