• This paper is a translation in Italian of the outline of the article about his life and thoughts of Niccolo Machiavelli. It consists of two parts and in the first part you can follow the brief sketch of his life, otherwise in the latter the essence of his four main works, i.e. "The Prince", "The Discourses", "The Art of war" and "The Florentine history", has been summarized in each and compactly. On the basis of the latest world-wide study trend on Machiavelli, this paper, while paying particular attention to a use of his <arte>, contemplates to shed new light on the whole image of his thoughts.
